Google ends Chrome support for Android 8 and 9

[German]Google developers will soon discontinue support for the Chrome browser app for Android 8.0 (Oreo) and Android 9.0 (Pie). Chrome 138 is the last version of Chrome that will support Android 8.0 (Oreo) and Android 9.0 (Pie). Chrome 139 (tentatively scheduled for release on August 5, 2025) is the first version of Chrome that requires Android 10.0 or higher, according to this blog post. Chrome app updates will only be available on Android 10.0 in the future. However, the Chrome app will continue to work on Android 8.0 and 9.0.(via)

Windows 11 24H2 Configuration Update KB5062324 fixes Update Seach Bug

Windows[German]A few days ago, Microsoft published the configuration update KB5062324 for Windows 11 24H2. The update should be offered for installation when searching in Windows Update. It fixes a problem where the search in Windows Updates no longer responds. A permanent fix for the bug is included in the preview update released on end of May 2025 (KB5058499) and later updates. Microsoft 365 blocks old authentication protocols from mid-June 2025

[German]I'll pull out a topic in a post that I came across recently. Microsoft is trying to increase the security of MS 365. To this end, "Secure by default settings" for outdated authentication protocols will be introduced in Microsoft 365 from mid-July 2025. Administrators must take this into account.

The hotfixes from May 2025 do not contain any new Exchange Server security updates, but corrections for non-security-related problems.

Windows 11 24H2 and Windows Server 2025 has Kerb3961

Windows[German]Brief note for administrators of clients with Windows 11 24H2.clients and Windows Server 2025 hosts. Microsoft has integrated the Kerb3961 library into these operating systems. This is a refactoring of the Kerberos cryptography engine in a separate library and shall improve the etype handling in networks.

Microsoft Family Safety blocks Google Chrome browser (June 2025)

[German]Since the beginning of June 2025, users have been complaining that they can no longer use the Google Chrome browser while Microsoft Edge works. Windows 11 (and probably also Windows 10 and macOS) are affected. The cause is probably the installed Microsoft Family Safety, which "incorrectly" blocks the Google browser and makes it unusable. The workaround is to rename the browser or set certain filter conditions.

Microsoft removes legacy drivers from Windows Update

Windows[German]Drivers distributed automatically via Windows Update are a frequent annoyance, especially when newer drivers are simply replaced. Microsoft now wants to stopp distributing older and therefore unwanted drivers for Windows systems via Windows Update. The whole thing is to be implemented step by step as a strategic approach in order to improve the security of the Windows ecosystem at the end of the day.

OneDrive search broken; Microsoft investigates the problem

OneDrive[German]Does anyone have the problem that their OneDrive search no longer returns any results, but shows empty results even though files should be found? Since January 2025, users have been complaining about a broken OneDrive search. Microsoft has now acknowledged such a problem and is investigating the issue.
