[German]Microsoft decided to cancel its plans to remove the internal use rights (IUR) for owners of an action pack or for licenses granted to its Gold and Silver partners. That's the news of the day.
What we are talking about?
Microsoft has planned a nasty surprise for its Silver and Gold partners and Action Pack buyer with some changes to the 'terms and conditions' that make them much worse. Internal use licenses of Action Pack has ben planned to be removed, and free support calls (for on-premise products) are charged. I've reported that within my blog post Microsoft slaps its silver and gold partners.
Microsoft is doing a Rollback
It looks as if Microsoft harvested a 'storm' of negative feedback from its partners. Gavriella Schuster, Corporate Vice President, One Commercial Partner, has published an article Updates to program change announcements, where he announced a rollback of all Microsoft plans:
Over the last several days, we've heard from many of you about changes we were planning to make regarding benefits included with gold and silver competencies, and those in the Microsoft Action Pack. These included benefits related to internal use rights, or IUR — specifically the terms governing the use of product licenses to run partner businesses.
I want to thank you for sharing your feedback with us and would like to provide an update on partner benefits.
Your partnership and trust matters to us. Given your feedback, we have made the decision to roll back all planned changes related to internal use rights and competency timelines that were announced earlier this month. This means you will experience no material changes this coming fiscal year, and you will not be subject to reduced IUR licenses or increased costs related to those licenses next July as previously announced.
In other words: After massive protests by the partners, Microsoft probably doesn't dare to 'cut the lines' and takes back the planned changes (at least for the fiscal year, which started on July 1, 2019). A note also clarifies that planned changes to on-premise support and new competency requirements will also be withdrawn. Mary Foley has more background information within this ZDNet article. (via)
