[German]It's been a few days since electric Bluetooth toothbrushes were 'celebrated' at trade fairs. Via the Bluetooth interface, you can access the data of the Oral B toothbrushes and get all kinds of information and do some unexpected things.
I just came across the video linked in the following tweet, where the Oral B electric toothbrush is misused to remotely control the TV.
Code can be seen on the commit https://t.co/71xM6c1Dgr
The important thing to realise is once a device becomes connected it can become a trigger for almost anything… the video use case shouldn't give a "why?" but rather, what else is possible? Tv control? Yep. https://t.co/bFQubiZPYC pic.twitter.com/4LCVtu3lgx— Ian (@imduffy15) May 3, 2020
The person in question has posted his or her tracker code at GitHub. After pairing, he or she can use Bluetooth to retrieve data about the condition (idle, running), brush mode (daily cleaning, tongue, lightening, etc.), pressure, and some other data. And the Oral B toothbrush can also be actively used to give signals via Bluetooth.
Now we're just going to need Bluetooth toothpastes…
