This little gift from Mr Nadella will not install: –

    Failed to install on ‎01/‎08/‎2020 – 0x8024001e
    Failed to install on ‎02/‎08/‎2020 – 0x8024001e
    Failed to install on ‎03/‎08/‎2020 – 0x8024001e
    Failed to install on ‎04/‎08/‎2020 – 0x8024001e

"We could not finish the installation because an update service was shutting down."

This is on an otherwise functioning Windows 10 2004.

Incompetence seems to be rife at Redmond.

      Very same situation for me.
      Failed to install on ‎01/‎08/‎2020 – 0x8024001e
      Failed to install on ‎02/‎08/‎2020 – 0x8024001e
      Failed to install on ‎03/‎08/‎2020 – 0x8024001e
      Failed to install on ‎04/‎08/‎2020 – 0x8024001e
"We could not finish the installation because an update service was shutting down."
      I do share Chris's opinion

  2. Chris Pugson says:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

I guess that rules out a system problem.

  3. Chris Pugson says:

I have a hunch that this little darling might disrupt other updates next Patch Tuesday. I will have to wait to see what happens. I have back-tracked my 2004 system to before the issue commenced and then paused updates for two weeks. Before allowing Patch Tuesday updates to install, I shall backup the affected system.
