[German]Brief note to administrators who are also responsible for Microsoft Azure. Microsoft has released Azure AD Connect 2.0.10.0. This is intended as a hotfix to work around issues that occur when renaming a domain.
What is Azure AD Connect?
Frank Carius, a German Exchange expert, summed it up in one sentence on msxfaq.de in einem Satz auf den Punkt gebracht: AADConnect is the new name for the building block that connects an on-premises Active Directory to Azure AD, i.e. synchronizes identities (users/groups) to the cloud. If you need a more detailed explanation, go to this Microsoft page.
There are, historically, different versions of Azure AD Connect. On systems running Windows Server 2016 or newer, Microsoft specifies that Azure AD Connect V2.0 should be used. The latest version of Azure AD Connect 2.0 is available for download via this link. If older versions of Windows Server are still in use, Azure AD Connect V1.6 should be used. The latest version of Azure AD Connect 1.6 can be downloaded from this link.
Azure AD Connect 2.0.10.0 as a Hotfix
I came across this information over the weekend via the following tweet from Yusuf Dikmenoglu, Microsoft Principal Customer Engineer.
Microsoft has published this post about it. In the release notes it says about the new version 2.0.10.0 of Azure AD Connect: Microsoft hat diesen Beitrag dazu publiziert. In den Release-Notes heißt es zur neuen Version 2.0.10.0 von Azure AD Connect:
This is a hotfix update release of Azure AD Connect. This release requires Windows Server 2016 or newer. This hotfix addresses an issue that is present in version 2.0 as well as in Azure AD Connect version 1.6. If you are running Azure AD Connect on an older Windows Server you should install the 1.6.13.0 build instead.
