[German]Microsoft has released the optional cumulative (preview) update KB5022360 for Windows 11 version 22H2 on January 26, 2023. There are a number of new features and especially a long list of bug fixes. Below I give an overview regarding these updates for Windows 11.
It should be noted that this update is a so-called preview update. This is optional and by default must be manually triggered to download and install. Preview-Update KB5022360 for Windows 11 21H2
Preview update KB5022360 is available for Windows 11 version 22H2, which raises the OS build to 22621.1194 and provides a number of fixes for these Windows versions. Here are what are called highlights below, changes and fixes:
- This update fixes an issue that may occur when the Input Method Editor (IME) is active. Applications may become unresponsive when you use the mouse and keyboard at the same time.
- This update fixes an issue that may occur when you convert or reconvert Japanese kanji with a multibyte character set (MBCS) application. The cursor may move to the wrong location when you type.
- This update fixes an issue that affects image files that you find by searching the taskbar. This issue prevents you from opening these images.
- This update fixes an issue that prevents you from searching for a file by its contents.
- This update fixes an issue that occurs with some game controllers. When the game controller is connected to the computer, the computer might not enter sleep mode.
Microsoft states the following improvements and fixes that the update makes in the support article:
- New. This update changes the experience with .NET Framework preview updates. After you install this update, all future (optional) .NET Framework preview updates appear on the Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options > Optional Updates page. On this page, you can control which optional updates you want to install.
- This update fixes an issue that affects searchindexer.exe. It randomly prevents you from logging in or out.
- This update fixes a problem with resource contention between two or more threads (known as deadlock). This deadlock issue affects COM+ applications.
- This update fixes an issue that affects conhost.exe. It stops responding.
- This update fixes an issue that can affect the Domain Name System (DNS) suffix search list. The parent domain might be missing when you configure the list.
- This update fixes an issue that may affect FindWindow() or FindWindowEx(). They may return the wrong window handle.
- The update fixes an issue that affects certain systems with firmware Trusted Platform Modules. (TPM). This issue prevents you from using AutoPilot to set up these systems.
- This update fixes an issue that affects mstsc.exe. It stops responding while connecting to a RemoteApp and Desktop connection.
- This update fixes an issue that causes Windows Server 2022 domain controllers (DCs) to stop responding. This occurs when they process Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) requests.
- The update fixes an issue that affects the Resilient File System (ReFS) MSba tag. The issue causes a leak in the non-paged pool.
- The update resolves an issue that affects ReFS. The issue causes high utilization of the non-paged pool, which consumes system memory.
- The update fixes an issue that affects devices that are subject to Microsoft Exploit Protection Export Address Filtering (EAF). Some applications become unresponsive or fail to open. These include Microsoft Office and Adobe Reader.
- This update resolves an issue that can affect applications that use Microsoft Edge WebView2 to display content. Applications that use WebView2 include Microsoft Office and the Widgets app. The content may display blank or grayed out.
- The update fixes an issue that affects a group policy for extended toasts.
- This update changes the way that you enable Windows diagnostic data processor configuration in preparation for EU Data Boundary support. For more information, see Enable Windows diagnostic data processor configuration.
This long list of new features and fixes will be integrated in the security update for the following month. The preview update is optional and is only offered when the user explicitly selects optional updates for installation in the settings page. The update can also be downloaded and installed from the Microsoft Update Catalog. The latest Servicing Stack Update (SSU) is included to fix various issues.
