Windows 10 22H2 Preview Update KB5034843 (February 29, 2024)

Windows[German]Microsoft has released an optional cumulative (preview) update KB5034843 for Windows 10 22H2 on February 29, 2024 (D-Week). This is intended to fix numerous bugs in Windows 10 22H2. There are also adjustments for sharing content. There are also changes to the backup app. Below is an overview of these updates for Windows 10.The The information on the updates can be found on the Windows 10 update history page. Please note that these updates are so-called preview updates. These are optional and must be initiated manually for download and installation by default.

Windows 10 Preview Update KB5034843

Cumulative Preview Update KB5034843 is available for Windows 10 version 22H2 (all versions). The following key points are listed in the highlights.

  • New! Using Windows share, you can now directly share URLs to apps like WhatsApp, Gmail, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Sharing to X (formerly Twitter) is coming soon.
  • This update affects games you install on a secondary drive. Now, they remain installed on the drive.
  • This update affects the Windows Backup app. It will no longer show on the user interface in regions where the app is not supported. To learn more, see KB5032038.

Microsoft has reacted somewhat, especially when it comes to the backup app – but there is probably no option to install the app.

Below is the list of quality improvements and fixes that Microsoft has specified for the update (these will be included in the security update for the following month).

  • This update addresses an issue that affects Azure Virtual Desktop sessions. There are delays when you sign in.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Azure Virtual Desktop virtual machines. At random, they restart. This occurs because of an access violation in lsass.exe.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Windows Hello for Business. You cannot use it to authenticate to Microsoft Entra ID on certain apps. This occurs when you use Web Access Management (WAM).
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Microsoft Edge. The UI is wrong for Internet Options Data Settings.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects the Japanese Input Method Editor (IME). It fails to work for custom desktops.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Remote Desktop Web Authentication. You might not be able to connect to sovereign cloud endpoints.

The update is optional and is offered via Windows Update if the user explicitly searches for updates on the Settings page and then selects the optional update for download and installation. The update can also be downloaded and installed from the Microsoft Update Catalog. The latest Servicing Stack Update (SSU) is integrated.
