[German]A small addendum from the April 2024 patchday. The updates appear to lead to problems with VPN connections under Windows 10 and Windows 11. In any case, Microsoft has received corresponding user reports and is investigating the incident, as the company announced on April 30, 2024.
I became aware via the patchmanagement.org list that there is a problem with the April 2024 updates. Microsoft has published the article VPN connections might fail after installing the April 2024 security update on the Windows Health status page on April 30, 2024. It states that VPN connection may be broken under Windows after installing the April 2024 security update (e.g. KB5036893) or the non-security preview update from April 2024. In any case, Microsoft has received corresponding user reports and is investigating the problem. The following Windows versions are affected:
- Windows 11 Version 22H2 – 23H2: KB5036893
- Windows 11 Version 21H2: KB5036894
- Windows 10 Version 21H2 – 22H2: KB5036892
- Windows Server 2022: KB5036909
- Windows Server 2019: KB5036896
- Windows Server 2016: KB5036899
- Windows Server 2012 R2: KB5036960
- Windows Server 2012: KB5036969
- Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1: KB5036967
- Windows Server 2008 SP2: KB5036932
Microsoft will provide the relevant information as soon as details are available.

Resolution: This issue was resolved by Windows updates released May 14, 2024 and later.

The May CU for Windows 10 broke ExpressVPN. uninstalling and repair fixed it. April updates were OK.
BTW: I would not use ExpressVPN for other reasons – it's an oxymoron ;-)
