[German]I haven't addressed it for a while, but it's time again to take a quick look at the figures with regard to operating system distribution on the desktop and, in particular, Microsoft Windows distribution and distribution across all devices. How is Windows 11 actually doing in terms of user favor? After all, Windows 10 is now only in support for another year.
Operating system share across all platforms
The website statcounter.com has published the market shares of various operating systems (desktop, mobile devices). Android accounts for 45.16% in September 2024 (increase), while Windows runs on 26.67% of systems (share down). Apple can be satisfied with 18.12% for iOS (increase) and 5.61% for macOS (decrease). Linux has a meagre 1.64% market share (slightly up on December 2023).

Operating systems share Desktop
For desktop systems, the website statcounter.com gives the market shares of various operating systems as 73.31% for Windows (up from 12.2023) and macOS at 15.45% (down from 12.2023), while Linux accounts for 4.48% (down from 3.82% since 12.2023) of systems. ChromeOS from Google reaches 2.25% (down) of desktop systems, while 4.49% of operating systems could not be identified.
(OS Market Share 10.2024)
The figures of Windows operating system shares on the desktop then gives this picture: Windows 10 comes in at 62.25% (67.46% in 12,2023), while Windows 11 has risen to 33.37% (from 26.52% in 12,2023). Windows 7 still runs on 2.85% of systems, while Windows 8.1 barely plays a role at 0.36%. The following diagram shows that the market share of Windows 10 is continuously decreasing, while Windows 11 is slowly increasing.
In my opinion, Windows 11 is really struggling to achieve significant market share. Windows 10 is probably still the workhorse on desktop systems and is likely to remain so in the coming months of 2024.
